". . . Audyssey Dynamic EQ does exactly what it says it will do. I didn't lose any of the detail or balance between channels regardless of the volume level . . . Without Dynamic EQ engaged, the sound was somewhat edgy and brittle . . . Dynamic Volume also worked as advertised . . . I didn't need to keep adjusting the volume up to hear dialog and down during the explosions to avoid permanent hearing loss. Both Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume were completely transparent, and I was never aware that these fine adjustments were being made."

"The sound was slightly brighter, more forward, and richer in texture. The Flat setting really narrowed down the soundstage, collapsing toward the center speaker. With Audyssey turned off, the sound was very uninvolving, but the Bypass L/R mode sounded the worst of all of them. In the end, I proved to myself that Audyssey works very well and I recommend it if your AVR has the option."

" . . . The corrected settings can be defeated, so you can compare just how the sound experience has changed. I will say that it was not subtle in my experience. Sounds were much more focused in space and each channel sounded nearly identical . . . Room correction is here to stay and I can say that, after this experience, I will never own a processor of any sort that does not include it."

"The company Audyssey has an amazing little box called the [Sound Equalizer] . . . An installer will come, measure several spots in your room, and then the box will EQ out (or at least minimize) many of the problems in your room. This will make any speaker system sound a whole lot better. The demos I've heard of this product have been jaw-dropping."

"The Audyssey Sound Equalizer is a remarkable achievement in the psychoacoustic modeling of what one actually hears in rooms . . . The Sound Equalizer seems to me an automatically recommendable device for home-theater and surround purposes. It is all but impossible to set up a multichannel system with all the speakers in anything like ideal positions for flat in-room response. The Sound Equalizer will solve this problem convincingly, and for several listeners. There is nothing else like it at a reasonable price (that I know of) for this purpose."
