NevenVision developed the world's most advanced machine vision software based on technology that includes facial detection and recognition as well as general object recognition. The company deployed its products in both the security biometrics sector and the consumer mobile marketing and entertainment market. Nevenvision was acquired by Google in August, 2006. Google has many uses for the technology and intends to use it in its photo management, image search, and mobile products.

Dr. Hartmut Neven, the company's founder, was Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Southern California, where he led the Laboratory for Biological and Computational Vision and focused on vision-based human-machine interfaces. Dr. Neven became one of the most renowned and respected researchers in the field of computer vision. He was the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Eyematic Interfaces Inc. Eyematic was a science driven company that emerged as technology and concept leader in human-machine interfaces and visual communications.
