Solarflare is the leading developer of 10GBASE-T PHYs, which enable simple, cost-effective 10 Gb interconnects that leverage the installed base of copper twisted pair cabling and Ethernet switching infrastructure. In addition, the company's high performance Ethernet controllers accelerate server system performance with no need either to change existing applications or to deploy new protocols.

Company Heritage

Founder George Zimmerman was previously at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where he focused on deep space communication with satellites. One of his biggest challenges was overcoming the impact of interference caused by solar flares. In overcoming this problem, he realized that he could apply the same technique to wireline communications, effectively increasing the channel capacity beyond what was recognized as feasible.
