Jonathan Atzen
In 2001, Jon started working with Anthem as our primary venture
capital/corporate counsel and since that time has assisted or represented
Anthem in nearly every one of its portfolio company investments.
Anthem eventually placed Jon as Senior Vice President, General Counsel
& Secretary at portfolio company Advanced Cell Technology, Inc.
where he served in that capacity for over 3 years.
Jon brings over 15 years of operational and corporate legal expertise
in venture capital, corporate/securities, intellectual property
and technology to Anthem.
Prior to joining Advanced Cell Technology, Jon exclusively focused
his practice on representing emerging growth and established technology
companies in such industries as information technology, new media,
semiconductors, wireless communications and applications, software
and alternative/clean energy technologies. In adddition to his extensive
experience with venture capital financings representing companies
and venture capital funds, Jon provided general corporate counsel
to public companies with respect to securities offerings including
IPOs, secondary offerings, PIPEs and spin-offs, and reporting and
compliance matters under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. Jon
was an attorney at several large international law firms including
Heller Ehrman/Venture Law Group LLP, Morrison & Foerster LLP
and Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP.
Jonathan received his B.A. degree in Economics from the University
of California at Santa Barbara and his J.D. from Loyola Law School
in Los Angeles, California.
