Samit Varma
Samit received a BS in Mechanical Engineering with merit from
the United States Naval Academy. He went on to serve 7 years in
the US Navy as a Nuclear Submarine Officer. While in the Navy, Samit
was ranked number 1 out of 300 officers. He was awarded Squadron
Junior Officer of the Year in 2001 for demonstrating excellent technical
knowledge, leadership and management.
After the Navy, he went on to earn his MBA from the Marshall School
of Business at USC. While at USC, Samit was one of six students
chosen to manage the school’s Student Investment Funds. He
was ranked number 1 out of 750 in the Finance Department and elected
by professors and peers to be the Core Finance Teaching Assistant.
He concentrated on Finance and Entrepreneurship at USC and his Technology
Feasibility project was published in the course textbook to be used
as the example. He made the Dean’s list every semester and
is a member of the Beta Gamma Business Honors Society.
Samit joined Anthem Venture Partners five years ago while earning
his MBA. He completed due diligence and market analysis on prospective
investments, and he worked closely with several portfolio companies,
including Advanced Cell Technology and Audyssey Labs.
Samit eventually joined Audyssey Labs full time after completing
his MBA and served as VP of Operations, Business Development and
Finance. He led a seed round and three follow on rounds of venture
and debt financing. Samit was instrumental in making the core technology
the de-facto industry standard for audio correction. He developed
key business relationships with the world’s largest Consumer
Electronics manufacturers in Japan, Korea, and the US and managed
complex off shore manufacturing in China and Taiwan. Samit managed
Audyssey’s day to day operations and helped the founders create
a solid strategic vision with a long term pipeline of products and
services.
